Wahoo Roam 3 & Bolt 3 – Our Take
Righto, Wahoo’s just dropped their new Roam 3 and Bolt 3 bike computers—and we’ve had a good stickybeak. Here’s the lowdown from the gravel trail.
💸 Damage to the Wallet
You’re looking at AU$749.95 for the Roam 3 and AU$529.99 for the Bolt 3. Not cheap, but you’re getting a solid bit of kit. Definitely a punch to the wallet, but if tech’s your thing, it might just be worth the sting.
😎 Drip Factor
Both units have copped a slick redesign. The Roam 3 now rocks a touchscreen (finally), with thinner bezels and a slightly bigger 2.8-inch display. It’s a clean look, and the Bolt 3—while not touchscreen—feels tighter and more dialled than its predecessor. The LED lights are gone, which some might miss, but overall it’s a visual upgrade.
🔮 Wizardry & Gizmos
This is where it gets spicy. The new touchscreen on the Roam 3 brings swipe, zoom, and pinch-to-zoom action, while still keeping those trusty buttons for when the heavens open or you’ve got thick gloves on. There’s also updated mapping, voice prompts, and a new user interface that’s easier to customise via the app.
Battery life’s seen a big leap too—up to 25 hours for the Roam and 20 hours for the Bolt. That’s a big tick for bike packers and long haulers.

🚀 Sendability
The Roam 3 is super intuitive. The combo of touchscreen and buttons is actually pretty brilliant—it’s all about choice and riding how you want. Setup’s a breeze with the app, and the navigation feels way more dialled in than previous Wahoo devices.
The Bolt 3 remains Wahoo’s smallest, most aero unit. It’s been beefed up slightly but keeps that compact vibe. It’s simple, smart, and snappy. Big thumbs up for usability.
